Thank you for an enormously successful start to our My Hero Is You, Mom experience. We have enjoyed every minute of the time we have shared together, whether it has been in the online classroom as a group or mentoring one-on-one. Every time we are together we experience a "transfer of soul" which truly edifies.
The three of us have spent some time this summer thinking about where we would like to go with our fall classes, and as usual it has come together with unanimous consent. We have really listened to you and your needs and have created a load that we feel is not too heavy and yet is still going to challenge us. We have chosen three choice classics with important themes (such as freedom vs. bondage, self-reliance, and private/public virtue) When applied, these principles will bless us personally and within our families, communities, and beyond.
In addition to this beginning scholar level class, Sarah and Cathy will be offering a once a month parenting and homeschool "how-to" workshop which will include guest speakers, discussion, and question and answer time. This is our time to meet with our dearest friends who really understand our challenges. We will be there to support and help each other do this most important job of all -- parenting! Proceeds from the workshops will be given to support our Leadership Education community in Arizona and the HIP Connect website.
We sincerely hope that you find what you need here. Spread the word and register soon, as we have a limited class size. Will you be joining us this fall? Read on to find out more.
Until then!
Angie, Sarah, and Cathy
To Be Free!
What
does it mean to be free? What does it feel like when we have our
freedom taken away? Come and study three powerful classics from a period
of time in the history of the United States when Americans were
redefining freedom. Find out how a study of history through the
classics can help us see more clearly how to solve the problems in our
day, starting in our own homes.
Classes will be held once a month on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 pm (Arizona time). Students will have opportunities for writing and will receive feedback and coaching from mentors, if desired.September 11th The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder
October 9th Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
November 13th Up From Slavery by Booker T. Washington
Cost for the semester: $75
Let's Go to Lunch
Sometimes it's just nice to go out to lunch with another mom who understands. Yet, how many of us homeschool moms really get a chance to connect with other women when we really need it? Sarah and Cathy would like to invite you to join them online once a month over a lunch break (yes, we are taking one!) to discuss homeschooling and parenting "how-to's", listen to guest speakers, ask questions, and give each other support and encouragement in this challenging and rewarding journey.
Lunch workshops will be held the 4th Monday of the month from 12:00-1:15 pm.
September 24th Simplicity in Parenting/The Power of Less
